Superintendent's Message

National Principal Month

October is National Principal Month and on behalf of the Canton ISD faculty and staff I would like to recognize and thank our campus principals for their commitment to our students, staff, and district. CISD principals include Mrs. Meredith Wiley, Mrs. Krystal Heflin, Dr. Paige Lloyd, Mr. Landry Watters, Mrs. Angie McLeod, Mrs. Allison French, Mr. Connor Robison, and Mrs. Lisa Parker.

Student of the Week

Congratulations to our Canton ISD Student of the Week, 1st grader Jameson Day. Jameson is the son of Jason and Jennifer Day. His favorite subject is Math and he enjoys riding horses. When he gets older he wants to ride bucking bulls.

According to Mrs. Wiley, “Jameson has a heart for spreading kindness and being a great helper. He’s a true friend to everyone, always the first to cheer up a friend who’s feeling down or to help solve whatever is bothering them. He’s eager to celebrate his friends' achievements, whether it’s moving their clip up, solving a tricky math problem, or receiving praise from a teacher or peer. Jameson consistently strives to be a leader in every situation. Even though he’s new to Canton Elementary, you’d never guess it by how wonderfully he’s soaring in 1st grade.”

District

Congratulations to the Mighty Canton Band, who for the 32nd straight year scored straight 1’s at the UIL Region Marching Contest on Tuesday in Mesquite. The band will compete in the Area C 4A Marching Contest on Saturday, November 2nd at 12:30.

On Monday night our JH 8A volleyball completed an undefeated district season and captured the district championship with their win over Athens. Congratulations to Eaglette volleyball.

Congratulations to Kevin Velasquez, who qualified for the state cross country meet this week at the Region 2 Class 4A UIL Meet.

On Thursday our Freshman, JV, and 7th and 8B all had wins over Ferris. The varsity followed that up with a 28-14 win over Ferris to move to 7-1 on the season and 2-1 in district.
